The Sainte-Baume mountain (baume is the Provencal word for cave) is a monumental limestone ridge sheltering, within its northern face the sacred cave dedicated to Marie-Madeleine. Down the mountain, a protected forest of beeches, oaks, pines and yews is stretching towards the valley. This amazing geological phenomenon associated to the mysteries of the deep forest have been an historical point of attraction, ancient Celtics tribes and Kings of France were held under its charms. So do the hikers and today’s pilgrims, bewitched by the powerful and timeless beauty of those silent and exhilarating landscapes
